Latest Updates

2025 August 3rd CDCFIB Recruitment Extension Notice

In an official press release signed by Major General A.M. Jibril (Rtd), Secretary to the Board, CDCFIB announced a one-week extension to accommodate more applicants. The new deadline is Monday, August 11, 2025.

This means if you haven’t applied yet, you still have time. New applications are being accepted again through the official portal at recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng.

2025 August 1st Recruitment Portal Upgrade

On August 1st, CDCFIB released a statement about an upgrade to their portal. This is actually good news if you’ve been dealing with application problems. Remember all those issues people complained about? Missing photos on printouts, wrong birth dates showing up, NYSC numbers not saving properly? Well, now you can actually go back and fix these things.

But here’s the catch. If you applied before the recent CDCFIB portal upgrade which was on 1st, August 2025. You must update your application at https://update.cdcfib.gov.ng. Failure to update before the new closing date August 11th, 2025 means you may be disqualified. If you applied after the portal upgrade (1st, Aug), you can ignore this and continue to use https://recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng.

What’s Coming After CDCFIB Recruitment Closing Date

Once that CDCFIB recuitment portal closes for good, CDCFIB will start the real work of going through thousands of applications. Based on how these things usually go, here’s what you should expect:

  • They’ll spend a few weeks creating their shortlist. Four different services mean a lot of applications to review. Civil Defence, Immigration, Fire Service, and Correctional Services all have different requirements and quotas.
  • If you make the shortlist, you’ll get an SMS and email notification. You can also check your status on their official website at recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng.
  • The computer-based test (CBT) comes next. Don’t expect this to happen immediately – these things typically take 2-3 months to organize. The CBT covers general knowledge, current affairs, and basic aptitude questions. Nothing too complicated, but you’ll want to prepare.
  • After that, there’s physical verification where you bring all your original documents. This is where having a clean, accurate application slip becomes really important.

If Your Application Had Problems

A lot of people ran into technical issues during the application process. The most common ones were:

  • Photo not appearing on the printed slip (even though you uploaded it), personal details getting changed automatically, missing or incorrect NYSC information for degree holders, and incomplete educational sections that wouldn’t save properly.
  • The portal upgrade should fix most of these issues. Log in with your NIN and phone number, then follow the prompts to update your information. Make sure everything looks correct before you print your final slip.

Common Questions People Are Asking

  • Is the shortlist out yet? No. They can’t start shortlisting until after August 4th when all applications are in.
  • Can I still apply? Not anymore. The portal is only letting existing applicants fix their information.
  • When is the CBT exam? CDCFIB hasn’t announced dates yet. Based on previous years, expect it sometime between October and November.
  • My application slip still has errors after trying to fix it. Just keep trying, it might be an issue with the portal. Make sure you’re using the exact same phone number and NIN from your original application.

Getting Ready for What’s Next

While you’re waiting for the shortlist, start gathering your original documents. You’ll need your birth certificate, all educational certificates, local government certificate, and NYSC certificate if you have a degree.

It’s also a good time to start studying for the CBT. Focus on Nigerian current affairs from the past year, basic math and English, and general knowledge about the four services you’re applying to.

Keep your phone and email active -the same ones you used for registration. You don’t want to miss their notification because you changed numbers. Most importantly, stick to official channels for information. There are already scammers sending fake shortlist messages and promising to “help” for a fee. Don’t fall for it.

The Bottom Line

This portal upgrade is CDCFIB’s way of cleaning up the technical mess that frustrated so many applicants. If you applied early and had problems, use this chance to fix them before August 11th.

The competition for these positions is going to be intense. This recruitment drive is one of the biggest government hiring exercises Nigeria has seen in recent years. But if you’ve made it this far and have a clean application, you’re already ahead of people who gave up because of technical issues.

The waiting game starts after August 11th. Use that time wisely to prepare for the screening process ahead.
